General Referral Criteria

- Divergent medical opinions exist.
With general referral guidelines in mind, refer patients to this clinic in the circumstances:
- Patient is a new amputee with loss of limb, thumb, or three or more fingers or toes.
- If elective amputation of revision surgery is being contemplated.
- If an outside agency has recommended a new prosthetic design or major change in prosthetic.
- If the injured worker wants a second opinion regarding a new prosthetic.
- If the injured worker appears to make an unusual number of requests to their local centre for supply of new prostheses, terminal devices, or prosthetic repairs.
