Psychological Trauma Program
Service Scope
These programs provide multidisciplinary assessment and diagnosis for workers who are suffering significant psychological and/or emotional distress as a consequence of a workplace accident, illness or traumatic event
These programs provide multidisciplinary treatment including individual, group and psychiatric therapies to assist the worker to return to normal function.
Referral Criteria
If as a consequence of a workplace accident, illness or traumatic event, the worker:
- displays symptoms of anxiety, depression and/or post traumatic stress disorder such as repeated reliving of the trauma(distressing memories, nightmares, flashbacks), avoidance of situations associated with the event, emotional numbness, increased arousal (being easily startled, sleep difficulties)
- is experiencing significant impairment of interpersonal , social or occupational function

With general referral guidelines in mind, refer patients to this clinic.
General Referral Criteria
While each specialty program has specific referral criteria, they all share some general criteria for referral. Refer when:
- There is a need to clarify a diagnosis;
- Prognosis, level of impairment, or appropriate treatment is unclear;
- The injured worker has not returned to work after normal healing times;
- Divergent medical opinions exist.
