    Traumatic Mental Stress Consultation

As a result of our consultation on and further review of our Mental Stress policy, our Board of Directors (BoD) approved a policy under the new title Traumatic Mental Stress. This policy now also addresses the cumulative effect of traumatic workplace stress related to a series of traumatic incidents, including harassment.

    The policy
    • Confirms traumatic mental stress due to harassment can be accepted if the harassment involves a traumatic event(s), or the cumulative effect.
    • Clarifies time lines for the development of an acute reaction.
    • Specifies clinical information required for entitlement.
    • Is retroactive to January 1, 1989.

    Traumatic Mental Stress Policy package
To provide you with details on the new Traumatic Mental Stress policy, we have created a package (210k, pdf) that includes
    • Cover letter
    • Traumatic Mental Stress Policy
    • Consultation Report
Note: This pdf contains both 8 ½” x 11” and 8 ½” x 14” pages. To print this pdf: Choose Print from the File menu and select Fit to page.

    Thanks for your participation
We’d like to thank all who sent in submissions and provided feedback in helping us to revise the Traumatic Mental Stress policy.
