Traumatic Mental Stress Consultation
As a result of our consultation on and further review of our Mental Stress policy, our Board of Directors (BoD) approved a policy under the new title Traumatic Mental Stress. This policy now also addresses the cumulative effect of traumatic workplace stress related to a series of traumatic incidents, including harassment.
The policy
- Confirms traumatic mental stress due to harassment can be accepted if the harassment involves a traumatic event(s), or the cumulative effect.
- Clarifies time lines for the development of an acute reaction.
- Specifies clinical information required for entitlement.
- Is retroactive to January 1, 1989.
