    WSIB Names New Research Advisory Council Chair (42k, pdf)
    TORONTO, November 18, 2004 - The WSIB Board of Directors has confirmed Dr. JeanYves Savoie as the new chair of the Research Advisory Council (RAC). This appointment is effective December 1, 2004 until the end of 2007. JeanYves who is internationally known in the field of occupational health and safety replaces Dr. Robert Norman whose term formally expires at the end of this month.

    TORONTO, November 16, 2004 - Cutting edge research developed to keep Ontario's workers healthy and safe will be the focus of the Solutions for workplace Change conference being held in Toronto on November 18.     TORONTO, October 28, 2004 - The WSIB Board of Directors has approved funding for 20 new research projects in the WSIB's 2004 competitive research grants program, "Solutions for Workplace Change." The WSIB's decision was based on the recommendations of the WSIB Research Advisory Council (RAC).

    RICHMOND HILL, October 8, 2004 - ConDrain Company (1983) Limited has pleaded guilty to 10 charges under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act on October 8, 2004. ConDrain was fined a total of $400,000 and ordered to pay a Victim Fine Surcharge of $100,000 by the Ontario Court of Justice in Richmond Hill. The matter proceeded by way of an Agreed Statement of Facts and a Joint Submission as to Sentence.

    BELLEVILLE, September 15, 2004 - The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has distributed a total of $42,209.03 in rebates to 50 Belleville area firms through its Safe Communities Incentive Program (SCIP). At a ceremony held September 14 at the Ramada Inn Belleville, 16 of those firms current members of the Greater Belleville Safe Community Safety Group were presented with a rebate representing its share of the total rebate.

    Ontario Firms Earn More Than $16,000,000 By Improving Health And Safety (48k, pdf)
    ONTARIO, December 9, 2003 - This fall, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) distributed a total of $16,624,930.14 in rebates to Ontario firms through the Safety Groups program. The participating companies received the rebate for collectively improving their workplace health and safety performance in 2002.

    BROCKVILLE, December 1, 2003 - The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) distributed a total of $507,710 in rebates to Brockville and district businesses at a ceremony held today at the Brockville Country Club. The businesses, which are members of the Safe Community Coalition of Brockville and District, received the rebates through participation in the WSIB's Safe Communities Incentive Program (SCIP). Each firm was presented with a rebate representing its share of the total rebate.
