    TORONTO, December 20, 2007 – Penetanguishene mayor Anita Dubeau signed the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s (WSIB) Community Workplace Health and Safety Charter yesterday, committing her town to eliminating workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

    TORONTO, July 31, 2006 - The WSIB has announced the 2007 preliminary aggregate premium rate for Schedule 1 employers. The WSIB plans to maintain the aggregate premium rate for 2007 at 2.26 per $100 of insurable earnings. This is unchanged from the 2006 aggregate premium rate. This decision comes after careful financial analysis, and numerous meetings and discussions with employers, workers and their representatives.

    WSIB Announces Final Premium Rates For 2006 (41k, pdf)
    TORONTO, September 20, 2005 - The Board of Directors of Ontario's Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has approved the final average premium rate for 2006. The 2006 average rate will be $2.26 for every $100 of insurable earnings a three per cent increase compared with the current rate of $2.19. This is only the second time in the last 10 years that the WSIB has raised the average premium rate. For the 10 year period from 1995 to 2004, the average rate paid by Ontario's employers declined 27 per cent, from $3.00 to $2.19.

    TORONTO, April 25, 2005 - A Sudbury construction company, Pioneer Construction Inc. pleaded guilty to 4 counts of making false statements to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board in connection with a worker's claim for benefits. These are violations under section 149(1) of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.

    TORONTO, April 20, 2005 - An Ottawa area construction company and two company officials have been found guilty of making false statements to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Findings of guilt were registered in relation to a total of 18 charges under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
