The Ontario health and safety associations, funded by the WSIB, provide training programs, products and services to the province's employers and workers. These partners include 12 industry-based safe workplace associations, the Workers Health and Safety Centre, and the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers. Standards for Designated Entities
The WSIB has a legal responsibility to establish the governance, objectives, functions and operational standards that Designated Entities must meet in order to qualify for financial assistance from the WSIB.

The WSIB is authorized under sections 4(1) and 6(1) of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, 1997 (WSIA) as amended, to designate entities specializing in occupational health and safety matters.

On September 20, 2006, the WSIB Board of Directors approved
      revised Designation Standards (93k, pdf).
