    Entitlement Following Work Disruptions Consultation

As a result of comments received during the consultation process, the WSIB has revised our original draft policy, Entitlement Following Work Disruptions, and has divided it into five separate policies:
    • General (this new policy contains concepts that are common to all four other policies such as explanation of employability, definitions, principles for entitlement, re-employment and co-operation obligations, labour market re-entry (LMR) specifications, etc.).
    • Short-term and Long-term layoffs (previously called temporary and deemed permanent work disruptions). Refer to the Consultation Report for details.
    • Permanent Layoffs
    • Seasonal Layoffs
    • Strikes or Lockouts
The approved policies apply to all decisions made on or after March 3, 2003.

Also included in the approved policy package is a revised Operational Policy manual document, Future Economic Loss (FEL) Supplement for Programs and LMR Plans Before and After 24 Months. We revised this policy to complement the Entitlement Following Work Disruptions policies. This also ensures the policy’s eligibility criteria for providing FEL supplements for LMR services reflected the WSIB’s experience and practice.
