Bill 187, the Budget Measures and Interim Appropriation Act, 2007
On May 17, 2007, the Ontario Government passed Bill 187, the Budget Measures and Interim Appropriation Act, 2007. It made a number of changes to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSI Act), effective July 1, 2007.
Legislative deadlines required the WSIB to update and release "interim" policies. A stakeholder consultation on the interim versions concluded November 1, 2007. (Also included in the consultation package was a new draft policy entitled “Adjusting Benefits Due to a Post-accident, Non-work-related Change in Circumstances.” This policy remains in draft form and has not been implemented to date.)
During the consultation period we received 43 written submissions. We are currently considering the feedback we received, and are looking for opportunities where improvements can be made to the interim policies. We expect our review to be completed by mid-2008, and will communicate with stakeholders at a later date regarding the final versions of the policies.
A copy of each of the received submissions is available in the WSIB’s Reference Library, located on the 17th Floor of the WSIB’s Head Office at Simcoe Place, 200 Front Street West, Toronto.
