Preventing Occupational Illness in your Workplace

Is your health and safety program up-to-date?

Workers are getting ill at work with asthma, dermatitis, cancer and many other types of illnesses. The effects can be lifelong and life-limiting. To prevent these illnesses, workplaces must identify the health hazards and then eliminate or control them.

We’ve put together these information resources to give workplaces ideas on how to get started on building, auditing or improving health and safety programs to prevent occupational illnesses.

We hope the information and links in these pages will help workplaces build, audit and improve health and safety programs to prevent occupational illness.

What you can do: Check this section for key considerations and regulations.

WSIB Services: Find out about the WSIB services, programs and initiatives aimed at eliminating occupational illness and assisting affected workers and their families.

Ontario Health and Safety Resources: Access resources prepared by the WSIB on the prevention and causes of some occupational illnesses.

Other Resources: Access key web sites, including our health and safety partners, that can help you understand occupational illnesses and prepare health and safety programs and audits to prevention exposure.
