    Matt Sagan

For seven years, Matt has been paralyzed from the shoulders down, when, at 15, he broke his neck while training to be a camp counselor. Matt contributed to this year’s campaign by recording a radio commercial. He contributed his picture for the 1999 Young Worker Awareness Campaign.

MATT: My name is Matt Sagan and I'm 22 years old. About seven years ago I broke my neck when I
was training to become a camp counsellor at a local conservation area.

ANNCR: How safe is your job?

MATT: I'm in a wheelchair. It's not certain that I'll walk again.
My parents, they were devastated by the news.

ANNCR: You have a legal right to ask how safe your job is.

MATT: Even though a job seems to be safe, don't be scared to ask questions.

ANNCR: Call 1 triple-eight, 921- WSIB for the questions you should ask.

MATT: My independence is pretty much gone - it's shot.
