    Threads of Life

When tragedy happens at work, Threads of Life helps heal those affected. This year’s annual five kilometre Steps for Life family walk, sponsored by the WSIB, will take place on Sunday, May 4, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The walk is a fun way to support families affected by a workplace tragedy while raising the awareness of injury prevention. This also supports the WSIB’s vision of zero injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

Families are not the only ones living in the aftermath of workplace fatalities, life-altering injuries or occupational diseases: victims also include friends, co-workers, supervisors, managers.

Proceeds for Steps for Life go directly to the Threads of Life Family Support Program, which offers one-on-one peer support.

Last year, over 400 people in three Ontario cities, participated in the family walk raising more than $20,000.

This year, there are four Steps for Life locations: Toronto, Hamilton, Thunder Bay and Sudbury. Threads of Life is anticipating a total of 1,000 walkers to participated in the five kilometre walk and expects to raise more than $30,000.

In Thunder Bay, the walk will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Here is more information for the Step for Life walk in ThunderBay.
