Lower Extremity Program Services Available: The programs offer assessment by a therapist and orthopaedic surgeon with special expertise in the lower extremity for a wide range of work related injuries. If required, diagnostic studies and/or consultation with specialist in disciplines such as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Psychology can be arranged. Depending on the nature of the problem, treatment and/or treatment recommendations can be made and provided to treating health care professional(s). Referral Criteria: An injured worker can be considered for referral to these programs if: A work related lower extremity injury has been recognized A timely and satisfactory recovery from an injury to the lower extremity has not occurred An expert opinion is required on diagnoses such as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) If surgery is being considered especially in cases whereby there has been prior reconstructive surgery Level of impairment and prognosis for an lower extremity injury Functional ability evaluation and treatment Unsuccessful attempts to return to work due to poor function and/or medical status
