Service Scope
Specialized assessment for workers with suspected occupational disease in four disease streams:
- Asthma
- Hand & Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
- Dermatitis and,
- General Occupational Disease

Referral Criteria
General Referral Criteria
While each specialty program has specific referral criteria, they all share some general criteria for referral. Refer when:
- There is a need to clarify a diagnosis;
- Prognosis, level of impairment, or appropriate treatment is unclear;
- The injured worker has not returned to work after normal healing times;
- Divergent medical opinions exist.
With referral guidelines in mind, refer patients to this clinic when:
- Specialized assessment and testing required for confirmation of a diagnosis e.g. patches testing re: allergy or irritant contact dermatitis (may require custom allergens).
- Specialized assessment and testing protocol required for diagnosis of HAVS.
- Specialized assessment and testing for diagnosis of occupational asthma.
- Specialized assessment for patients with multiple symptoms and occupational exposures.
