How safe are your kids at work?
In 2003, more than 13,500 young workers were injured seriously enough to require time off work. In the same year, eight youths suffered workplace fatalities. Often, they weren’t taught how to work safely and they didn’t know their rights.
These injuries and deaths can be prevented. Help protect our kids from getting injured at work.
Talk to your kids about how to stay safe while working. What you teach them may save their life.
As Paul Kells says, talking to your kids about their job is one of the most important jobs you've got. Paul Kells’ son Sean lost his life on the job.
Rights and responsibilities
Help your kids know their rights and responsibilities:
- the right to refuse unsafe work
- the right to know about workplace hazards
- the right to participate in keeping the workplace healthy and safe
