Choice and Change of Health Professional
As part of our commitment to quality and timely health care, and to assist workers and employers in early and safe return to work, we have revised our policy on choice and change of health professional.
The policy:
- Allows workers to make their initial choice of health professional from among the following groups of health professionals:
- Chiropractors
- Physicians
- Physiotherapists
- Registered Nurses (Extended Class)
- Allows workers to seek initial treatment from two health professionals without the need for a referral or WSIB authorization

We have also revised our Entitlement and Definitions policy (17-01-02) to add Registered Nurses (Extended Class) to the list of health professionals that we recognize. Please note that we have changed the title of this policy to: “Entitlement to Health Care.”
